Damien In Rent

Damien played the leading role of Roger in Rent on UK Tour and for two critically acclaimed seasons in London's West End at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

The hit musical about Manhattan bohemians in the age of drugs and AIDS (drawn loosely from the Puccini opera La Boheme) burst onto the scene in the mid 1990's. Critics and fans embraced the sparse, pulsing, off-Broadway musical. Tragically, it's young composer-lyricist, Jonathon Larson, died of an aortic aneurysm prior to its off-Broadway opening.

It won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, moved to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre and won both Best Musical and Best Score Tony Awards, among others.

"Rent" is the story of two struggling artists; Roger, a musician, and Mark, a film maker. Best friends and roommates living in inner-city New York at the end of the millennium, they face the possibility of being evicted by their former friend and roommate, Benny.

This production of RENT originated at Leicester Haymarket and was directed by their Artistic Director Paul Kerryson and proved to be one of their most successful musicals returning for a second run within 6 months of opening.
